One Day, Two Luverne Section Baseball Victories

The Luverne Cardinal baseball team came out the winner Saturday after hosting the first round of section playoffs for four teams. I have photos from both games in the gallery. GAME 1 & GAME 2. The weather made it seem like two different days. Game one against St. James was played under typical Minnesota spring-like conditions of cold, wind and intermittent rain but that didn't seem to bother the undefeated Luverne team. Brent Dinger's two hit, one run pitching performance led Luverne to a 11-1 win in the 6th inning. The second game in the afternoon against Pipestone was held on a glorious spring day with light winds and temperatures in the lower 70s. Pitcher Phil Paquette must have had a bet with Dinger that he could beat his morning performance since Paquette went five innings giving up only one hit and no runs for a 10-0 Cardinal win.

I  must thank Randy Ehlers for the invitation to photograph Luverne Baseball. I have really enjoyed getting to know the athletes of the class of 2009 and I wouldn't have been able to get this photo without that invitation. Thanks Zach, Phil and Brent and the other great athletes from LHS '09. It's been fun watching all these years and a special privilege to photograph football and now baseball. I wish you all the best.
