2010 Rock County 4-H Horse Show

What do you see at a 4-H horse show? Well, horses and 4-Hers. But other than that. What’s there?

What do I see (with the help of a camera) at a 4-H horse show? Hours of practice. Hours of horse grooming. Determination. Big smiles. Relief. Superintendants who love kids and horses.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the 2010 Rock County 4-H Horse Show. I hope they show you what I see. Click on these images for a larger view. The rest of the photos are in the gallery here.

Note to 4-Hers: You have permission to copy, print and use these images any way you want. I have changed the way the gallery works so if you want to purchase a print or a full resolution file, you can do that.

I still don’t do weddings, unless you are my son.

Mike and Erin

I don’t do weddings. I don’t do weddings. I don’t do weddings … unless I’ve had the good fortune to watch your children grow up through my lens AND you’re amazing friends AND I get to work with you. So, having gotten that out of the way, I was blessed to be able to spend some time with a wonderful couple whom I respect for their faith in Jesus Christ and their attitude toward life, Mike & Erin. If that’s not enough, I also got to work along side my beautiful and talented wife who is a gifted storyteller with words as well as with images. Here is a few of my favorite images, a 12 hour slice of time from July 2, 2010.

LHS 2011 Cardinal Spirit

25 very spirited members of Luverne’s class of 2011 were in the studio Wednesday for the annual spirit session photo. This was by far the largest spirit session have ever photographed and possibly the most spirited. They had a lot of fun. You guys are going to have an great senior year. I just know it.

Kahler Terrace

2671-064_1530

It was a cool morning late in September. I had wanted to create an image of the remodeled “Old Jail” for some time. After walking around the (now titled) Galleries Building several times, I realized that a high camera angle was the only way to capture the beauty of the Kahler Terrace on the north side of the building. It took a few days to come up with a workable “camera stand” to get the elevation needed. I won’t say what I was standing on but there were a few people that went by and gave me that “look, there’s a redneck with a camera” glance. Let’s just say that sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to get an image.

Photos with Santa Saturday at Winterfest in Luverne

2453-102web

We’ll be taking photos with Mr. & Mrs. Claus Saturday, December 5th from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Luverne Middle School Commons during Luverne’s Winterfest Craft Show. The session with the Clauses and a 5x7 print is $15 with the proceeds from the event going to the local S.H.A.R.E program.

Clothing & Tips:
Avoid patterns, solid colored tops work best. Red works well but brown, dark blue and white also look very nice. The line for photos is long right at 11 but tapers off toward 1. Prints will be mailed within two weeks. Additional prints are available for ordering on Saturday or after your order arrives.

Almost!

I thought it was going to happen again. The ole’ Luverne comeback in the last few seconds of the game. But it was not meant to be. Congratulations to the Luverne Cardinal football team for a stellar season of football. A big thank you to Bill Korth who graciously gave up his side line pass so I could go on the field and get these photos. Photos in the Gallery here.
